OUR ENVIRONMENTAL APPROACH

Caring For The Environment

From our home in the Hope Valley, we work to manage our environmental impact responsibly through considered materials, less waste and more efficient day-to-day operations.

ROOTED IN THE HOPE VALLEY

Why Environmental Responsibility Matters To Us

Living & Working in the Peak District

Educational Planning Books is based in the Hope Valley, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. It is where our family lives, our team works and our products are prepared for customers.

Being surrounded by this landscape keeps environmental responsibility close to home. We therefore aim to make practical choices that reduce waste, improve efficiency and consider the source of the materials used in our products.

Our Approach in Three Areas

Our environmental efforts focus on the everyday decisions we can make within the business.

01

Considered Materials

Our product materials are FSC® certified or recycled. We also look to work with suppliers that take their own environmental responsibilities seriously.

02

Less Waste

We reduce packaging where possible, plan stock carefully and reuse or recycle the waste materials produced by the business.

03

Energy Efficiency

Measures within our premises include LED lighting, switching off warehouse machinery when it is not needed and a more economical office boiler and thermostat system.

MATERIALS AND SOURCING

FSC-Certified or Recycled Product Materials

We use product materials that are FSC certified or recycled. FSC labels help customers identify forest-based materials that have been independently verified as coming from responsible sources.

Alongside material choices, we consider the environmental approach of the companies we work with and look for products and services that can reduce unnecessary impact.

What does FSC mean?

The Forest Stewardship Council® is an independent certification system for forest-based materials. Different FSC labels identify products made using certified virgin material, recycled material or a controlled mixture.

EVERYDAY ACTIONS

Reducing Waste Across The Business

We aim to prevent avoidable waste before it is created. That includes reducing the amount of packaging used and planning stock levels carefully.

Where waste is produced, reuse and recycling are promoted throughout the company so the whole team can contribute.

Using Energy More Carefully

We have taken practical steps to improve energy efficiency at Bamford Works. These include changing lighting to LEDs, turning warehouse machinery off at lunchtimes and investing in a more economical boiler and thermostat system for the office.

We continue to review the choices available as materials, equipment and working practices develop.

A Practical, Ongoing Responsibility

We know environmental responsibility is not a one-off project. It means continuing to review how we source materials, prepare orders and operate our premises.
